HAIL!!!!!! Monges de Guerra. A Continuacion una entrevista a los nuevos reyes del thrash americano, una gran banda llamada warbringer!!!!!
EXTERMINATOR :What is the secret to be succesful in the very short time?
KEVILL: Well, the main thing has just been that early on people had a very strong reaction to our music. The EP did well with a lot of word of mouth and also a lot of good reviews, which helped us land our record deal. Once we were on a label, they started promoting us, and when they saw the response to that was good that increased. And we've always worked very hard on our live show, which I think we are doing better now than ever. So a lot of people react very strongly after seeing us live, because we rage as hard as we possibly can.
EXTERMINATOR :How succesful is your new record outside the us?
KEVILL: I think it is doing pretty well. Soon we are going to do some tours in Europe, which should help it out there, I think European metal fans tend to be more into the oldschool stuff so we think it will go well for us there.
EXTERMINATOR : Why did choose thrash between a lot of music styles popular?
KEVILL: Well, we started around 3 years ago, at which point thrash metal in the united states was not at all popular. Recently theres been a little resurgence of its popularity though. But we chose thrash because it was something we all loved. At the time the band started everyone was really getting into thrash, and because its fast, intense, and great to play live.
EXTERMINATOR :The same that you a lot of bands are taking the 80s thrash .is a new school being created?
KEVILL: In sound theres usually not too much of a difference between newer "thrash revival" bands and 80's thrash bands. Which could be a good or a bad thing, depending on who you ask. But I think some of the new bands have their own sound, wrote their own memorable songs, so I think that some of these bands might become really killer, on par with some of the classics someday.
EXTERMINATOR :What actually bands have a respect of warbringer?
KEVILL: You mean what bands respect us? Well we are friends with most of the newer bands playing thrash metal around here today, like Merciless Death, Fueled by Fire, etc. The bands we have toured with all liked us, Exodus in particular were really cool to us, Gary Holt even put on a Warbringer shirt onstage! Very cool to see someone whos so influential in our style of music (and to us) likes our band as well.
EXTERMINATOR Can you tell me the top ten thrash records
KEVILL In no order-
1- Morbid Saint- Spectrum of Death (Destruction System might have been even better if the sound was more clear!)
2- Artillery- By Inheritance
3- Vio-lence- Eternal Nightmare
4- Demolition Hammer- Epidemic of Violence
5- Exhorder- Slaughter in the Vatican
6- Slayer- Reign in Blood (everyone names this album but I really think it's one of the best and most intense thrash albums!)
7- Sacrifice- Forwards to Termination
8- Kreator- Coma of Souls
9- Megadeth- Peace Sells but Whos Buying
10- Coroner- Punishment for Decadence
EXTERMINATOR : Do you know mexican bands?
KEVILL : I know a couple, like the Chasm and Transmetal. But I do not know as many bands from Mexico as from South America.
EXTERMINATOR :Do you have plans to make a tour in mexico?
KEVILL: We have a show coming up in Mexicali in early May, there hasn't been any talk of a full tour yet. If a good opportunity comes up we will do it!
EXTERMINATOR Which are the short run plans for the band?
KEVILL We are working on new material now, and soon we are going to Europe on tour with Napalm Death/Suffocation soon. After that we are home for a couple months, then we go back to touring! We plan to try to finish the new album within about a year.
Thanks for the interview, cheers!
